“Mr. Dulos was tried and convicted in the court of public opinion," Pattis said. "Now he has been executed. We remain committed to demonstrating he did not murder Jennifer.”

Dulos, 52, who was declared dead at 5:32 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, attempted to end his life on Tuesday, Jan. 28, by attaching a vacuum cleaner hose to the tailpipe of his vehicle and running it through a window, started the engine and then set inside waiting to die from carbon monoxide.

He was found a little after noontime by Farmington Police when he failed to show up for a court hearing in connection with the stability of his bond and was facing returning to prison.

During a press conference following Dulos' death, Pattis said he intends to continue to work to clear his client's name.

On Thursday, Pattis filed a motion with the court to receive a copy of a note left by Dulos claiming his innocence.

“He declared his innocence of the infamous and heinous crimes that the state has accused him of and claimed his lawyers have the evidence to prove it,” the motion reads.

Either the state police or the Farmington Police, both of whom searched the home following Dulos' suicide attempt, have possession of the note.

Pattis said his team will work to clear Dulos' name by having his estate put on trial for murder.

“As to those who contend that Mr. Dulos’ death reflects a consciousness of guilt, we say no," Pattis said during a press conference. "We say it was more a conscience overborne with the weight of a world that was too busy to listen and wanted a story more than it wanted the truth."

Dulos was charged with killing Jennifer Dulos, 50, who was last seen on Friday, May 24, after dropping her children off at school.

Police believe that Fotis Dulos was lying in wait inside the garage of her New Canaan home where he killed her and then later attempted to clean up the crime scene and disposed of a number of garbage bags that contained his estranged wife's DNA, an arrest warrant states.

The couple had five children, two sets of twins, and an older child.

Fotis Dulos' family traveled from his native Greece to see him before he was taken off life support.

The family, Pattis said, wants Fotis Dulos' name cleared.
